Beneficial knowledge is acceptable in Islam

As I kept on reading reactions on the recent video shared by Boko Haram on a whatsApp group,Custodian of Information-I frowned, smiled and went on ruminating on the way forward. It gladdens the heart to see dialogues on how to clear misconceptions about Islam.

To start with, a brother wrote "Boko Haram is committing atrocities in the name of Islam and National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA is keeping mum. They are not proactive at all..."

Let us assume they have forgotten their objectives-it is time for us to wake them from their slumber. The Council was estabished to cater for; preserve, protect, promote and advance the interests of Islam and the Muslims throughout Nigeria. We must make them play their role on every issues affecting Islam.

We must read, write and spread all the positive things we know about Islam. Islam is Peace, it doesn't teach terrorism. We must write and make Boko Haram read and understand that Islam promotes the seeking of knowledge.

Our beloved prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: The seeking of knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim(Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 218).

We know that there are some western knowledge that are not acceptable in Islam but the way to say 'NO' is not by killing ourselves.  The prophet (PBUH) used to supplicate: "O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from four things: KNOWLEDGE WHICH DOES NOT PROFIT, a heart which is not submissive, a soul which has an insatiable appetite, and a supplication which is not heard." (Sunan of Abu-Dawood hadith 1543)

Terrorism is not in ISLAM.There is no compulsion in religion. Allah forbids the killing of a SOUL!

You know, I have lived long enough, and got more beards by the way, to know that whether here in Lagos, where I am writing after a wonderful phone call from a SPECIAL ONE, or wherever Shekau presented his script on "Gwosa Caliphate", the truth remains that SALAAM means PEACE.  I AM A MUSLIM AND I AM NOT A TERRORIST.

Nigeria sues Coca-Cola for half-filled cans

The Federal Government of Nigeria is suing Coca-Cola and Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), over alleged failure to comply with Consumer Protection Council (CPC) orders over two half-empty cans of Sprite.   The lawsuits follow a consumer complaint, which ended in investigation into the half-filled cans of Sprite bought at a supermarket in Abuja. The case was brought to the Federal High Court in Abuja against Coca-Cola Nigeria and its chief executive as well as the Nigerian Bottling Company and its managing director for criminal breach of the Consumer Protection Act. Both firms stand accused of “deliberately failing, refusing and/or neglecting to comply” with orders over the inspection of their manufacturing processes. Individuals responsible could face up to five years in prison. CPC added that during its investigation half-filled cans continued to evaporate. CPC concluded that the Sprite situation in Nigeria poses a threat to ...
