Nigerian Youth becomes World's Youngest Distinguished Toastmaster


Toastmaster Owolabi Ibrahim, 22, has reached the greatest height as the youngest ever on the planet to be awarded the “Distinguished Toastmaster” title in the nonprofit international educational organization, Toastmasters International club that teaches public speaking and leadership skills.

Member of the Ikeja branch of the club TM Hammed Olawale said “Owolabi’s achievement is not only because he is the youngest human that has ever done it but also because he has broaden the chances of a brighter tomorrow for the country by achieving an interesting goal in this distressing time to be a youth in Nigeria”.

“He has seized the future he pictured and has charged the entirely youth populace to be youthful by being fruitful through personal development. He is also an evidence of the saying "the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams" by Eleanor Roosevelt as he actualised his yesterday's dream of being a renowned communicator and leader today” he added.

The young graduate of Banking and Finance who finished recently from Lagos State University joined the club due to his crude ability in pouring out his opinion on campus.

After 18 months of membership with the club, all of his intents were overtly met that he transformed from a raw talent to a seasoned communicator and leader.

Rt. Hon Adeyemi Ikuforiji , Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker described Owolabi Ibrahim has an inspiration.

 "Owolabi Ibrahim is not just a record setter but a source of inspiration for other young Nigerians.” 
During his acceptance speech, Owolabi Ibrahim said “I feel elated as I have been recognized for my feet. I appreciate and celebrate it.”

Owolabi Ibrahim is a member of the Lagos State Youth Parliament.

Nigeria sues Coca-Cola for half-filled cans

The Federal Government of Nigeria is suing Coca-Cola and Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), over alleged failure to comply with Consumer Protection Council (CPC) orders over two half-empty cans of Sprite.   The lawsuits follow a consumer complaint, which ended in investigation into the half-filled cans of Sprite bought at a supermarket in Abuja. The case was brought to the Federal High Court in Abuja against Coca-Cola Nigeria and its chief executive as well as the Nigerian Bottling Company and its managing director for criminal breach of the Consumer Protection Act. Both firms stand accused of “deliberately failing, refusing and/or neglecting to comply” with orders over the inspection of their manufacturing processes. Individuals responsible could face up to five years in prison. CPC added that during its investigation half-filled cans continued to evaporate.
